Mystic Jarv – Saturday Premier League Predictions 22/08

Posted by Jarv on August 21, 2009

Like a duracell bunny I wont give up no matter how wrong i am. First up Lets see how i did in midweek

Sunderland Vs Chelsea predicted 1-1 actual Result 1-3 – Nothing There
Wigan Athletic Vs Wolves predicted 2-0 actual result 0-1 – Nothing there
Birmingham Vs portsmouth predicted 1-0 actual result 1-0 – Spot on Yay
Burnley Vs Manchester United predicted result 1-2 actual result 1-0 – I dont want to talk about it
Hull City Vs Tottenham Hotspurs predicted 1-2 actual result 1-5 – Right result, wrong score
Liverpool Vs Stoke City predicted 1-0 actual result 4-0 – Right result, wrong score

So a mixed Bag midweek much like last weekend. So onto Saturday

Arsenal Vs Portsmouth
After destroying Everton on the first weekend and beating Celtic in midweek it is  a great time to be an Arsenal fan, i stand by my statement i don’t think they will challenge this season as soon as they get a few injuries. Wenger has Arsenal playing great football as usual and it must be a joy to be a season ticket holder at the Emirates, not only do you get to watch great football every week but you have some decent amount of cash to afford one 🙂

I’m going to start sounding like a stuck record regarding Paul Hart’s Portsmouth, What is going on down there on the south coast, David James is now rumoured to be on his Way to spurs to link up once again with Harry Redknapp, Will there be anyone left by the time the take over happens….if it happens

Mystic Jarv Predicts 2-1 to Arsenal

Arsenal Vs Portsmouth Match Discussion

Birmingham City Vs Stoke City
First win of the season for Birmingham midweek against Portsmouth, for what its worth I think it was a penalty, eyes on the ball or not David James took the player out who may have got to the ball before him.

Regardless of last seasons results against Liverpool I’m sure Tony Pulis wouldn’t have been expecting anything from Anfield. Its sure to be a tough season for both of these teams and its games like this that both teams really need to win, if it were 3 games from the end of the season instead of 3 games in pundits up and down the country would be calling this a Relegation 6 pointer and to be honest the game has no less significance to both clubs. Their main aim this season will definitely be survival first then see where they can get to.

Mystic Jarv predicts Birmingham to edge it 1-0 but it could go either way.

Birmingham City Vs Stoke City Match Discussion

Hull City Vs Bolton Wanderers
Hull will be smarting from the 5-1 demolition at the hands of Spurs and they seem to be really struggling to bring in a striker, latest to be linked is David Nugent who hasn’t been able to get a game on a regular basis at Portsmouth, No wins since december at home for Hull.

Bolton have no points either and just like Birmingham Vs Stoke this game is a must win for both teams and Bolton were certainly the 2nd best team in the game versus Sunderland. I do expect them to have a bit more than Hull though

Mystic Jarv predicts a 1-0 win for Bolton

Hull City Vs Bolton Wanderers Match Discussion

Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
What a time to be a Man City fan, loads of money to spend, lots of new players and a sense of real expectation. City really have to win games like this and should be expected to comfortably, Hughes has spent a quarter of a billion pounds since he took over and knows his job must be on the line unless they seriously challenge for the title.

Wolves got a good win against Wigan bit i still think they will struggle this season

Mystic Jarv predicts a comfortable 2-0 home win

Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Discussion

Sunderland Vs Blackburn Rovers
Darren bent has got off to a flyer so far this season and at this rate won’t be far away from a chance at the golden boot, Steve Bruce wouldn’t have expected to get much out of a game against Chelsea and Sunderland should have a great shot at a top half finish under Bruce, especially if Bent keeps firing.

Sam Allerdyce has a team of battlers and will no doubt work hard against Sunderland, Blackburn have signed Salgado on a free transfer and time will tell if Big Sam can get much out of him.

Mystic Jarv predicts 2-0 to Sunderland

Sunderland Vs Blackburn Rovers Match Discussion

Wigan Athletic Vs Manchester United
There will be some damaged ego’s in the Manchester united camp after losing against Burnley, most United fans i know can’t seem to understand why Carrick took that penalty, it must have been decided before hand however i would have expected Rooney on 99 United goals to want to have made it 100 Will Wigan be on the End of a United backlash?

Wigan lost against Wolves in midweek and I think they will lose this one too but i do expect them to survive this season

Mystic Jarv predicts 0-1 to Manchester United

Sunderland Vs Chelsea 18th August

Posted by Jarv on August 17, 2009

Sixth Plays tenth, not that that means anything after only 1 weekend where half the league won and no draws. How did i do predicting their 1st 2 games, I had Bolton to beat Sunderland 1-0 and Sunderland won 1-0 so nothing there and i had Chelsea to beat Hull 2-0 and they won 2-1 so i got at least the result right.

Chealsea struggled to break down Hull and only picked up the win late on with a lucky cross-shot, their season will depend on how quickly the team gets to grips with Carlo Ancelotti’s formation and i expect Steve Bruce’s Sunderland to be no less organised than Hull, Bent will score goals this season for Sunderland and Sunderland should do well under Bruce’s stewardship.

Mystic Jarv Predicts a 1-1 Draw

Bolton Wanderers Vs Sunderland 15 August

Posted by Jarv on August 15, 2009

The Question is will Darren Bent score the goals that will keep Sunderland in the premier league, I Personally think he and Kenwyne Jones will. Steve Bruce will make sure the team all plays for each other and will get some decent service from the wings.

Bolton Wanderers will likly have another tough season but should be safe due to the weaker teams in the division, Gary Megson will make sure they work hard and Zat Knight will do ok at the back.

Mystic Jarv predicts 1-0 to bolton but a poor match
