Rest In Peace Sir Bobby Robson

Posted by Jarv on July 31, 2009

Today is a sad day in the world of football a true football legend, a true gentleman, a person who everyone loved has passed away aged 76.

I’m sure his achievements will be list at length on various news sites but they are worth listing

Honours
Honour Team Year(s)
Texaco Cup Ipswich Town 1973
FA Cup Ipswich Town 1978
UEFA Cup Ipswich Town 1981
Rous Cup England 1986, 1988, 1989
Dutch Championship PSV Eindhoven 1991, 1992
Cup of Portugal FC Porto 1994
Portuguese Championship FC Porto 1995, 1996
Copa del Rey FC Barcelona 1997
European Cup Winners’ Cup FC Barcelona 1997

My first proper  memory of Watching England was with Robson at the helm at Italia 90 and had the lottery of the penalty shootout.

He was inducted into the Away goals Rule Hall of Fame as an Initial Inductee such was the feeling and support for him amongst our members.

It always amazed me how enthusiastic he was when ever he spoke about football, always dignified.

Today is a sad day in the world of football

RIP Bobby, you will be missed

Away Goals Rule Back’s the Bid – 2018 world cup

Posted by Jarv on July 29, 2009

Away Goals Rule Back’s the Bid for England to Host the 2018 world cup, although the decision maybe nearly 2 years away it’s important to show support for bringing the biggest football competition to England’s Green and pleasant lands.

There has been a lot of discussion about which cities will win the right to host the tournaments games, the only Stadia that are assured of being used are Old Trafford and of course Wembley but which ever ones are chosen there surely can’t be any alternative destinations with as good infrastructure and enough stadia that are already of the required standard for the host nation than England

O’neill thinks City can win the title

Posted by Jarv on July 29, 2009

Really? yes they have spent a lot of money but it takes more than money to win the league, Mark Hughes has to keep a lot of players happy and get them to gel. I expect them to do well and Arsenal fans must be bricking themselves at the prospect of heading for the Europa League next time around but Champions…Really?

Don’t get me wrong next season if they continue to strengthen they wont be far away but as it currently stands i will be very surprised if they finish any higher than 4th.

For all the latest news on who Manchester city are going to buy next visit the Away Goals Rule Football Forum Manchester City Transfers Thread

Martin O’Neill should be spending time worrying about his own fortunes as they badly fell away last season and as i see it are a weaker side this season without Garth Barry and no Martin Laursen, add to that Everton who will be up there again and (can’t believe i’m going to say this but) Spurs who have strengthened and will be much better organised at the beginning of this year than the beginning of last year, well they can hardly be worse

The Football Season is Upon us

Posted by Jarv on July 27, 2009

Well almost anywaythe football league kick off and Community shield less than 2 weeks away and the Premiership kick off just less than 3 weeks away. Its that time of year my mind turns to my fantasy football team and my season predictions.

My rough Fantasy football squad is just about finished and i’ll tweak it over the next couple of weeks, i found it harder this year as most of my last years victorius league championship winning team’s value had gone up quite a bit and Ronaldo has left the league so it has been tough, Do you think you have what it takes to beat me this season? visit this thread on the away goals rule football forum. Its prediction time as well and awaygoalsrule has a new prediction game here which covers all levels of English football and european football, Give it a go its a one time only thing, once you have made your selections all the work is mine to update it, check back here for monthly updates.
